PhD in International Economics at University of Hohenheim

University of Hohenheim (Germany) invites applications for the open PhD position in International Economics. The successful applicant will work within the project “The effect of international trade on job flows, wages, and unemployment: The role of search frictions and firm heterogeneity”.

This project is funded by the Thyssen Foundation. It is co-directed by Prof. Gabriel Felbermayr at Universität Hohenheim (Stuttgart) and by Prof. Julien Prat at IAE Barcelona. The candidate should hold a graduate degree (Master or German Diplom) in economics, preferably with a background in trade theory and/or labor economics. He/she should have good quantitative skills, some training in econometrics, as well as a good command of English. The successful candidate carries out doctoral research. She/he takes part in an international cooperation between IAE Barcelona and Universität Hohenheim. She/he also benefits from the doctoral program offered by Tübingen-Hohenheim Economics e.V., from a close integration into the International Economics Group at Universität Hohenheim, and from the support offered by the FZID Recearch Center.

The successful candidate is based in Stuttgart during academic terms. The monthly stipend is EUR 1500 net of taxes. Additional funds for travel and IT are available. A supplementary assignment as teaching assistant is possible. The contract runs for an initial period of two years, but is renewable.
